Out of Air

Out of Air

Out of Air was written by Mike Gagliano and produced by the Fire Smoke Coalition.  It follows the ROAM, the Rules of Air Management, written by Mike Gagliano, Phillip Jose and Casey Phillips.  The video will take you through the entire process of the READY Check.  You will learn the basics of managing your air, various breathing techniques to extend your air supply and what happens when you have no air.

This program is still in great demand.  Included are iconic leaders of the fire service such as Bobby Halton, Alan Brunacini, John Norman and John Mittendorf.  Their wisdom and knowledge spans the generations of the fire service.

To Hell & Back:  Cyanide Poisoning

This video introduces the viewer to Hydrogen Cyanide in fire smoke.  It takes you inside the body to view the physicological destruction when Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen Cyanide enter the body in smoke inhalation.  With the ever increasing use of plastics and synthetics in home and office products, fires have become more deadly.

Mike Gagliano and Paul Combs recently re-introduced the Toxic Twins, Two-Pens Perspective:  The Toxic Twins.

For firefighters, The Toxic Twins need attention.  Simply stated, Carbon Monoxide kills the red cells in the blood and Hydrogen Cyanide kills the organs.   The physical impact can be immediate or cummulative.  With #1 cause of death in the firefighting profession being heart-related, this topic needs your attention.  Every time you breath smoke, or inhale the gases, you chip away at your heart and brain.  Take it seriously.  Don’t breathe smoke.

Aftermath

Aftermath

Aftermath was developed by a team of fire service medical experts with a focus on the treatment of The Toxic Twins, hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide, as those gases relate to smoke inhalation, for firefighters and civilians.  The controversial challenge with presumptive treatment for hydrogen cyanide has always been the diagnostic uphill battle.

Hydrogen cyanide can only be definitively diagnosed through whole blood testing.  Unfortunately, many hospitals do not have the laboratory capability to perform the test, so there is a delay in results.  And, by that time, hydrogen cyanide has already done whatever it’s going to do and has left the body.

The Toxic Twins

The video takes your eye inside the body to view the physiological responses to Hydrogen Cyanide and Carbon Monoxide, a/k/a The Toxic Twins.  The content is less than 5 minutes and can easily be used for training.
